Bishop Named 'Fire Official of the Year'

Douglas County Fire Marshal Scott Bishop named "Fire Official of the Year" for the state of Georgia.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens has named Douglas County Fire Marshal Scott Bishop as “Fire Official of the Year” in the State of Georgia. Mr. Bishop was lauded for his dedication to the citizens of Douglas County as well as to his staff and to fire safety and education.

Under Mr. Bishop’s guidance, the Douglas County Fire Marshal’s Office conducts hundreds of annual inspections, and takes the inspection opportunity to educate the business on compliance needs. This not only makes compliance easier to achieve, but also builds a level of cooperation and trust between the business and the Douglas County Fire/EMS Department.

Mr. Bishop has also been instrumental in gathering information to help the County maintain its ISO rating despite the tremendous growth in the County’s population. He has also overseen the addition of a Public Education Division to the Fire Marshal’s Office that is responsible for fire safety education to school children, child care centers, and seniors, including events and television segments.
