1 Killed, 4 Hurt in Head-on Crash
One person was killed and four others were injured Wednesday on Bankhead Highway, west of Burnt Hickory Rd., at about 5 p.m.

One of the injured was an 18-month-old that was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite hospital and another person was taken to Douglas Wellstar for treatment, according to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.
The Douglas County Coroner's office told Channel 2 Action News that the male motorist was westbound on Bankhead when he fell asleep, struck a truck and then collided with a car driven by a 57-year-old woman.

The woman was killed, and two adults and a child in her car were injured, the Coroner's Office said, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Names have not yet been released.

Since this crash occurred before the start of the holiday period, it will not be carried on the holiday traffic count.
