Update: 1 Dead on I-20 After Morning Wreck

The name of the driver has not been released yet. State troopers are still on the scene and traffic is slowed.

"I'm waiting on confimration that the next of kin has been located and notified on the person killed," Gordy Wright said in an email, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.Β 

The victim is 22 years of age and from Mississippi. The driver of the vehicle was 21-year-old Marcus Adams from Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The Dodge Magnum Adams was driving left the road, traveled down a slight embankment and struck several trees. Adams was taken to Grady for treatment.

A fatal accident occurred in at approximately 5 a.m. on Interstate 20 eastbound, near County Line Rd.

The right lane was closed and the other lanes may have periodically been blocked to move the wrecker around since the vehicle was down an embankment. Troopers are still on the scene so there will be slowing in the area.

The driver left the road and hit a tree, according to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.
