Update: 1 Dead, None Injured in Morning I-20 Wreck

There was a fatal car accident on I-20 this morning, according to the Douglasville Police Department.

Update 2:38 p.m.:

There was a fatality but the original reporting of an injury during this morning's car wreck on I-20 was incorrect, according to Lt. Brad Loudermilk of the Douglasville Police Department.

Loudermik said the person who died was a 30-year-old male from Anniston, AL., but the name has not been released because the family has not yet been notified.

According to witness reports, he said, the three-car accident occurred, when a the driver of a 2005 Chevy Malibu, driven by the man killed, clipped the rear end of a 1998 Subaru, driven by Dick Darnall of Glenville, NC., while driving west bound on I-20.

The Malibu was then propelled across the interstate into the fast lane of traffic, where it was T-boned by a 2005 Lincoln Navigator, driven by Teroma Brown, 39, of Mebane, NC.

Everyone but the man killed drove away from the accident, he said. The investigation is on-going.

Loudermilk said witnesses to the accident are encouraged to call  678-293-1633.

An accident involving three vehicles occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., west of Fairburn Rd., in Douglas County, according to the AJC.

Chief Chris Womack said the Douglasville Police Department were handling the scene.

One person was killed and one was injured, the newspaper said. Their names were not released yet. All of the westbound lanes were blocked for more than an hour earlier and at least one reopened by about 12:30 p.m.
