Shelter Donations

I found out this weekend that if you write a check directly to the Douglas County Animal Shelter, that the money has to go into a general Douglas County account.  It can be used for anything slotted in the Douglas County budget, e.g. roads.  If you wish to give a monetary donation, make it out to the Douglas County Humane Society (http://www.douglascountyhumanesociety.org) They will buy what the Shelter needs.  If you want to make a direct donation to the Douglas County Animal Shelter, call them beforehand to ask them what they need and purchase the items then drop them off.  Thought I would pass on the information.
