WWII Vet Guy Foster Redding, Jr., Dies

Guy Foster Redding, Jr. of Bremen passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, in a local hospital, following a brief illness. He was born in Carroll County, Jan. 8, 1925, son of the late Guy Foster Redding, Sr. and Omi Dewberry Redding. Mr. Redding was employed by RK Redding Construction, Inc. as an Executive Assistant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II and a member of the Bremen First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Davis Redding and sisters, Nellie Stanford, Dorothy Hitchcock, Lucille Long and Mary Jones.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Tena Redding, Atlanta; a daughter, Rebecca Hammock of Sharpsburg; (3) grandchildren, (6) great grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth Richards, Temple, Irene Morrow of Temple, Estelle and Bill Hamil of Warner Robins and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and JoAnn Redding of Bremen.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 until 9 p.m..

Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.Β from the First Baptist Church of Bremen with Brother Herman Parker,Pastor John Lemmings and Randall Redding officiating. Music will be furnished by The Nelons , Jerome Olds, Randall Redding and Sue Ezzell. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Keith Redding, Steve Lenderman, Scott Stanford, Barry Redding, Billy Sims, Richard Lusk, Robin Worley and Troy Boatwright. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make a donation to the Bremen First Baptist Church Building Fund or Tanner Hospice in Carrollton.Β
