William Paul 'Bill' Lamp’l, 66, Dies

The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, with Senior Pastor, Dr. James B. Harper, Elder Jane H. Hubbard, and Pastor Wayne Bray officiating.

William Paul “Bill” Lamp’l, 66 of Winston, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born on April 20, 1947, in Miami, FL., the son of the late William Frank Lamp’l, Jr. and the late Rachel Gilbert Lamp’l.  At an early age Bill joined the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout at age 17.

Bill received his Doctorate in School Psychology and worked for the White County School System and Cobb County School Systems for one year each before beginning his 39 year career with the Douglas County School System as a School Psychologist. Bill was an accomplished musician on the piano, organ, vocalist, and hand bells. He served as the organist for the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church for 30 years. Bill enjoyed technology, traveling, astronomy, photography, and playing the piano & singing. During his college years, Bill sang with the Glee Club at Emory University. He also sang for many years with the West Atlanta / Douglas Choral Society (WADCS). Bill was a kind and gentle, quiet and intellectual, and a very patient person. Bill was a man who loved life—especially his wife, son, and family, but most importantly he was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
