To Captain Herb Emory: 'We Will Dearly Miss You'
Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, April 15, at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville.
Monday's commute around metro Atlanta wasn't the same for many radio listeners without Herb Emory, the beloved traffic reporter who passed away Saturday after helping troubled motorists in an accident.
The engaging "Captain Herb" had been a traffic reporter in Atlanta since 1971, best-known as WSB's eye in the sky since 1991, often using humor to help motorists get around town during bad traffic conditions.
Emory, 61, a Douglasville resident, fell ill while he stopped to assist at an accident in Douglas County.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office offered its condolences on its Facebook page Monday morning, sharing the following WSB post:
To the Captain ...
You saved us time, alerted us to trouble, and you made us laugh.
This and every morning hereafter, we will miss you dearly.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 15, at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. A private funeral service will be held.
Emory's obituary posted on the Jones-Wynn website said WSB will hold a public memorial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Captain Herb Emory may be made to the Douglas County Animal Shelter, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA 30134, or A Gift of Love Services, 3870 Longview Drive, Douglasville, GA 30135
