R. Christine East Thomaston, 70, Dies

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Lynn Janney, Rev. Jason Berryhill and Rev. Randy King officiating.

R. Christine East Thomaston, 70 of Franklin, GA., passed away on Monday, Oct. 7. She was born on Aug. 24, 1943 in Pine Hill, Randolph County, AL., the daughter of the late James Henry “Jim” East and Mary Malinda Blackmon East. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was loved by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, T. Nathan Thomaston; brothers: Hollis East, Charlie East, Winford East, and Jesse East; sister, Joyce Craven; and grandchildren: Baby Mayfield, Master Mayfield, and Beth Christine Mayfield. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law: Jimmy P. & Terri Thomaston and Jerry N. & Pamela Thomaston all of Franklin; daughter, Mary C. Mayfield of Sandy Springs; brother, John David East of Franklin; grandchildren, Jay & Casey Thomaston, Johnathan & Taylor Loyd, Justin Loyd, Brandi Thomaston, Katie Thomaston and Stephanie Thomaston; great grandson, Luke Owen Thomaston; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Lynn Janney, Rev. Jason Berryhill and Rev. Randy King officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Kendrick, Brett Kendrick, Christopher Kendrick, Mike Sweat, Joe Massey, Kevin Hannah, and Darian Bailey. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Heard County.

Flowers are welcome or for those desiring to do so, memorial contributions may be made to the R. Christine Thomaston Memorial Fund at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5 until 8 p.m.
