Public Memorial Service Set to Honor Captain Herb Emory

The public is invited to attend the Saturday celebration at East Cobb church.

A public memorial service celebrating the life of Captain Herb Emory has been scheduled for this weekend.

The AJC reported the public is invited to the celebration 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in east Cobb County. The church is located at 955 Johnson Ferry Road.

Emory, a beloved traffic reporter for WSB radio and TV, died Saturday of a heart attack. He was reportedly helping people involved in a traffic accident in Douglas County when he suffered the attack. Emory was a Douglaville resident.

Visitation was scheduled Tuesday (3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville.

A private funeral was planned.
