Navy Vet. William Oneal 'Grumpy' Price, 87, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 6, from 3 to 4 p.m. with his funeral service following at 4 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Joey Rainwater officiating.

William Oneal ‘Grumpy’ Price, 87 of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, April 3. He was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Anniston, AL. Mr. Price was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was retired from the City of Atlanta Traffic Control Division as an Electrical Engineer.

Mr. Price served 30 years with Meals on Wheels and he never turned down an opportunity to help anyone that asked. He was a member at Pray’s Mill Baptist Church for 40 years plus, where he served as a Deacon, served on the bus ministry, served as a driver for the Senior Adult Ministry, was in charge of bus maintenance, and served weekly on the Finance Team.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Elsie Price; his wife, Agnes Price; and his nephew, Robbie Robinson.

He is survived by his son, Charles Price and his wife Sandra; grandson, Raymond Price; granddaughter, Rachel Price; sister, Catherine Robinson; nephew, Rodney Robinson and his wife Patty; and Robbie’s widow, Melanie Robinson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 6, from 3 to 4 p.m. with his funeral service following at 4 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Joey Rainwater officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
