Navy Vet Edward 'Ed' Francis Crispell, 92, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 25, from noon to 2 p.m. with his memorial service following at 2 p.m.

Edward ‘Ed’ Francis Crispell, 92 of Douglasville, passed away Monday, Jan. 20. He was born May 23, 1921 in Trenton, NJ.

Mr. Crispell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retired mechanical engineer and member of Bright Star United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the ASME Society of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Air Patrol, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, Underwater Demolition Team Association, Huguenots’ Society, Crispell Family Association, AARP active member, American Legion Post 145, Renssalear Poly Tech (RPI) Alumni, Troy, NY, where he established the Edward and Doris Crispell Scholarship Fund, USS McCawley Survivor’s Association, and the Dirty Dozen Vet Group that meets at IHOP on Tuesdays.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orie and Elthea Lyons Crispell and half-brother, William McCracken.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Crispell; son, William ‘Bill’ Crispell and wife Valerie Robbins; son, Martin ‘Marty’ Crispell and wife Sandra; daughter, Tamra Elthea Lehuta and husband James; grandchildren, Jessica Ainsworth and husband Stephen, Nicholas ‘Nick’ Crispell, Benjamin ‘Ben’ Crispell and wife Emily; Samantha Yarborough and husband Jeremy; Melissa Lehuta, Joseph ‘Joe’ Lehuta, and Elizabeth Lehuta; great-grandson, Colton Thomas Ainsworth; and one nephew.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 25, from noon to 2 p.m. with his memorial service following at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Chaplain Ron Daniel officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at Bright Star Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wellstar Community Hospice at Cobb 4040 Hospital West Dr., Austell, GA 30106.
