Mattie Lois Pruitt, 82, Dies

Mattie Lois Pruitt, 82 of Carrollton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29. She was born Oct. 9, 1931 in Carroll County to the late Ezra Guthrie and Bessie Mae Pate. She retired from Turner Manufacturing Company where she had worked as a seamstress in the clothing industry and also worked part time at Oak Mountain Nursing Home. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a member of Circle of Friends.

Besides her parents, preceding her in death is her husband, Byron Bradley. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Chesnut (Wayne) of Lagrange and Christie Bradley Stevens (Billy) of Carrollton; sons, Larry Gerald Bradley of Carrollton and Michael Bradley (Sherry) of Dallas; sister, Blanche Neese of Whitesburg; four grandchildren, Kathy Chesnut, Scott Bradley, Jessica Stevens, and Kaitlin Stevens; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at 1 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Milford Ballenger officiating. Interment will follow in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 1 till 3 p.m. and 5 till 9 p.m. at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel.
