MSgt. James Norman Cunningham, Jr., 56 of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25. He was born Jan. 27, 1957 in Mobile, AL. MSgt. Cunningham served his country as a 22 year Veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was the Senior Marine instructor at Lithia Springs High School with the MCJROTC Program. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. He was Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Cunningham of Douglasville, GA; sons, Capt. James N. Cunningham III of San Diego, CA, Jonathan R. Cunningham and wife Christina of Villa Rica, GA, and Jason M. Cunningham of Marietta, GA; step-son, Russell T. Mote of Temple, GA; step-daughter, Ada M. Mote of Lithia Springs, GA; eight grandchildren; father, James N. Cunningham, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Faye Sherwood of Jacksonville, FL and Denise Perkins of Gainesville, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Cunningham Key.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 5 until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. Thom Shores officiating. Interment will be Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. CST at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland, AL.
