Margie Eskew DeLay, 88, Dies

The funeral service will be held in the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. with Pastor David McLendon officiating.

Margie Eskew DeLay, 88 of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday Jan. 16,  following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 30, 1924 in Union City, the daughter of the late George Wiley Eskew and the Lottie Butler Eskew. She as a homemaker and was dedicated to her family. She loved sewing and crocheting. She was affectionally known as “MeMommie.” She was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. M. “Dub” DeLay, Jr. sisters, Gladys Phillips, Bernice Shoemake, Clarice Lingerfelt and Helen Farrell, brothers, Marvin Eskew, her twin, and George Eskew, Jr.She is survived by two daughters and son in-law, Rhonda DeLay of Douglasville and Rita and Larry Dukes of Douglasville; two sons and daughters in-laws, Jimmy and Jean DeLay of Douglasville, Jerry DeLay and Cathy Varian of Leon, West Virginia; 7 grandchildren, Shannon DeLay, Lisa Brown, Karen Morris, Scott Morrison, Steven Morrison, Sharon Lambert and Ashley DeLay and 14 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral service will be held in the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. with Pastor David McLendon officiating. Interment will follow in Mosley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs.
