Margaret May Thran, 87, Dies

The funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. James Smith and Rev. Allen Howard officiating.

Margaret May Thran, 87 of Winston, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18. She was born Jan. 3, 1926 in Morristown, PA. Mrs. Thran worked as a Division Manager for Sears-Roebuck for 19 years. She was a very loving mother; a talented artist who taught painting; worked as a ‘Pink Lady’ in Putnam County and WellStar Douglas Hospital; and was very active in ‘Meals on Wheels’.  Mrs. Thran was a devout Christian, serving as a former Choir Director at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Eatonton, GA.

Mrs. Thran is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Thran; and her parents, Robert and Mae Proctor Hellyer.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly M. Stewart and husband Johnny of Alpine, AL, Barbara T. Gilbert and husband Merritt of Winston, GA; son, Harry R. Thran and wife Debra of Roger City, MI; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Elaine Scarboro of Ormond Beach, FL; and a brother, Robert C. Hellyer and wife Elaine of Pipersville, PA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m.  The funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. James Smith and Rev. Allen Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
