Iva J. Ashley Dies

Iva J. Ashley, age 76, of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, at his residence. He was born Feb. 5, 1935 in Abbeville County, SC the son of the late Lawrence Orr Ashley and the late Bessie Bell Ashley. He worked for Atlanta Coca-Cola Company from 1965 until 2000 when he retired. He was a member of the Mableton Lodge #171 F & AM, where he had served as Past Master. He was also a Shriner and a member of the VFW. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Burtz Ashley of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ashley Stucki and Rulon K. Stucki of Douglasville, Renee Ashley Watkins and Kevin Watkins of Lithia Springs; sister, Carrie Smith of Due West, SC; brothers, Leonard Ashley of Abbeville, SC, L. O. Ashley of Abbeville, SC; five grandchildren, Bryan Ashley Crawford, Justin Andrew Crawford, Kayla Crawford Durden, Travis Neal Watkins, Elizabeth Renee Watkins; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Grace Durden and Kalliann Rebecca Durden; brothers-in-law, M. G. Burtz, Jr. of Powder Springs and E. A. Atkinson of Marietta. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at in Douglasville Friday, Nov. 11, from 4 until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Wayne Bray officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton with Military Honors under the direction of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard also the Mableton Lodge #171 F & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites.
