Former County Employee and Guard Vet. James Horace Jackson, 83, Dies

The funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Freddie Blalock and Reverend Johnny White officiating.

James Horace Jackson, 83 of Douglasville, passed away Monday, April 29. He was born May 19, 1929 in Villa Rica, son of the late Andrew and Ara Carrie Lee Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Jackson, Harold Jackson and Bobby Jackson. Mr. Jackson was retired National Guard and retired from the Douglas County School System Transportation Department. He owned Jackson Brothers Lawnmower Shop for many years. He loved fishing and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Douglasville, where he served as treasurer and deacon.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Edna Jackson; daughter, Shirley Jackson; son, Joey Jackson and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Daniel Jackson and his wife Heather, Leeanna Trujillo and her husband Juan, Rose Butt and Danielle Jackson; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Kate Terry; nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Freddie Blalock and Reverend Johnny White officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
