Burtlee Prince Parson, 82, Devoted Caregiver, Hairdresser, Seamstress

Funeral services will begin 1 p.m. Friday, June 6.

Mrs. Burtlee Prince Parson, age 82, of Douglasville, passed away June 4, 2014.  She was born on August 13, 1931, in Lithia Springs, Georgia, the daughter of the late Henry Clarence and Lelar Brookshire Prince.  She was a hairdresser and a devoted caregiver for many years, a professional seamstress, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Cochran Ridge Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Stephens and Betty Baggett.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Odes Parson, of Douglasville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Debbie Parson of Lithia Springs, Randy and Cheryl Haywood Parson and Gary and Debbie Parson, all of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Judy Prince, of Baltimore; sisters and brother-in-law, Pauline Cargile of Morrow, Rilla Fortner and Dot McGinnis, both of Douglasville, and Edna and Chuck Bright of Temple; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 10 step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville with Pastor Jeff Childers and Brother Willard Toney officiating.  Music will be rendered by Jeff and Pam Childers, Joe Horsley, and Larry Johnson.

Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville with Brother Ronnie Garner, Brother Edward Johnston, Brother Jerry Brown, Brother Jerry Turner, Brother Larry Johnson, and Brother Ricky Sweat serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Brother Ray Lawrence, Brother Bob Richards, and Brother M.C. Hardy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5:00-9:00 P.M. and also on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour.
