Buna Ann Smith Pirkle Dies

Buna Ann Smith Pirkle, age 80 of Douglasville, passed away Tuesday, May 15. She was born July 21, 1931 the daughter of the late Luther Casey Smith and the late Jennie Wilbanks Smith. She worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation as a switchboard operator. She was a member of the Douglasville American Legion and the Douglas County Senior Citizens. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Byron Pirkle, Jr.; sister, Jennie Mae McEntire. 

She is survived by her daughter Autumn Byce of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Jacob Byron Pirkle, III and Karen Pirkle of Cumming; step-daughter and spouse, Debra and Steve English of Brunswick; step-son and spouse, David and Debra Pirkle of Brunswick; six grandchildren, Brooke Pirkle, Ashlyn Pirkle, Lindsey Pirkle, Justin English, Garrett English, and Elijah Pirkle. 

The family received friends at in Douglasville on Thursday.

Funeral Services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Ikey Watson and Pastor Marcus Miller officiating.
