Betty Jo Massey, 77, Douglasville

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. from Hightower's Memorial Chapel.

Betty Jo Massey McLendon, age 77 of Douglasville, passed away, Thursday, February 27, 2014

She was born January 2, 1937 in Polk County to the late Samuel Massey and Stella Womack Massey. She worked during her career as a nurse and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Douglasville.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Harold “Doug” McLendon.

Survivors are her daughters and son-in-law: Gay and Paul Goolsby, Lynn Hawkins, sons and daughter-in-law, all of Douglasville: Kenneth McLendon, of Douglasville; Sammy and Christi McLendon of Villa Rica; sisters: Louise Roberson of Douglasville, Marjorie Morgan of Aragon; sisters-in-law: Jeanette McLendon of Temple, Evelyn McLendon of Aragon; grandchildren: Diereshe Collins, Stephanie Godfrey, Amy Crowell, Jeremy McLendon, Matt McLendon, Taylor McLendon, Mason McLendon, Cade McLendon; great grandchildren: Luke, Garrett, Alex, Emma, Mattie, Kohen, Evan, William, Grace, Mary; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Freddie Blalock officiating.

The family will receive friends, Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5-9 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Douglasville.
