Army Vet Jesse 'Ray' Madden, 65, Dies

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Greg Neighbors officiating.

Jesse “Ray” Madden, 65 of Carrollton, passed away Friday, Jan. 17. He was born May 17, 1948 in Carrollton, to the late Willis Madden and Mattie Ruth Hammons Madden. He worked for GM for 31 years and proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was the preacher at Pine Knoll for 13 years.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death is a son, Kerry Lee Madden. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Madden of Carrollton; son, Clint Madden of Carrollton; daughter, Dena Brock (Chuck) of Bowdon; daughter, Vaddy Yates (Jeremy) of Woodland; sister, Ann Mulkey (Steve) of Carrollton; brothers, David Madden (Jane) of Warren, OH., Jerry Madden of Mt. Zion, and Jeff Madden; eight grandchildren, Robin Rooks, Drew Brock, Drake Brock, Brett Madden, Auston Yates, Beau Madden, Hunter Wilson and Blake Madden; two great grandchildren, Adrian Ray Ortiz and Brooklynn Ortiz; and his caregivers, Marie Relthford and Ang ela Bailey.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Greg Neighbors officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 20, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel.
