Air Force Vet William Arthur Murphy, II, 74, Dies

William Arthur Murphy, II, 74 of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21. He was born Oct. 23, 1938 in Hamilton, OH., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Arthur Murphy. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He worked as a Research Chemist for the Cosmetics Industry.

He was a naturalist at Sweetwater State Park. He is survived by his wife, Rita Edwards Echols of Douglasville; sons, John Murphy, Timothy L. Murphy and Robert Echols; stepdaughters, Alicia Putnam and Kim Obermeyer; six grandchildren.

According to the family’s wishes his body was cremated.

A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
