Christmas Presents: Do You Wrap or Bag?

With Christmas upon us the age old question has to be answered. Do you prefer wrapping or bagging?

Christmas Presents: Do you wrap or bag?

With Christmas upon us the age old question has to be answered. Do you prefer wrapping or bagging?

Let’s look at each.

Wrapping requires some skill and coordination. A good eye for color helps as well. Then there are the necessities: Paper, Boxes, bows, tags, tissue paper, scissors, tape and ribbon. Wrapping is time consuming but much more rewarding. Just the sound of tearing paper makes my heart beat a bit faster.

Looking at my own presents under the tree you can kind of tell which ones were wrapped first. They are the beautiful ones with matching bows, ribbons and tags; my later presents aren’t so pretty. With the clock ticking away it becomes a frenzy to get everything done in time. So the presents are wrapped and tagged, some even get bows. Ribbon? Sadly ribbon is the first to go.

I am lucky to survive the week before Christmas with my sanity and no paper cuts. (So far!)

However, is using gift bags a better solution?

Gift Bags are more expensive, but by planning ahead you can get them 50% off or more by stocking up after Christmas. Reusing a bag is also a great solution, just be sure to use tie on tags instead of stick on.

Gift bags are the perfect solution for people with less time on their hands or for the wrapping impaired. Bag, tag and you’re done! They also work well for those awkward shaped gifts. I have a hatred for anything in the molded plastic packaging. Not only are they not square, they are a nightmare to open. Here is a great website with tips to avoid a trip to the ER.

How to Open Rigid Plastic Clamshell Packages Safely

Speaking of opening, have you tried freeing a toy from packaging? Keep a pair of wire cutters nearby and you and your child will both have a very Merry Christmas.

So do I wrap or bag? Both. Anything not wrapped by Christmas Eve gets shoved in a bag.

Be safe and have a wonderful stress free Holiday!
