If you receive power from GreyStone, you are a valued member of the cooperative, and you and your family are invited to attend the 75th Annual Meeting of Members. The meeting will be held at GreyStone’s home office in Douglasville, on Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., as we celebrate our theme, “Illuminate.” Come learn about the products and services that your co-op offers to members beyond energy, and have fun with your family in the process.

The event’s planners are thankful for last year’s suggestions from members on ways to improve the event. “We gave our members’ feedback great consideration while designing the layout for this year’s event,” said Annual Meeting Coordinator Amanda Busby.

The day kicks off with a free Chick-fil-A® biscuit for members and their families, served from 8 to 10 a.m. Registration will be in the auditorium from 8 to 11 a.m. Bring your electric bill for ease of registration.

This year’s Annual Meeting also features a Together We Save Energy Efficiency Expo, helping members learn energy-saving steps that lead to real dollar savings. Several specialized businesses will be in attendance, educating members about the benefits of conservation and demonstrating valuable energy-efficient products and services.

Cumberland River, a bluegrass band from Kentucky, will perform at 9:45 a.m. The band has had eight original songs used on the FX network’s hit TV drama, “Justified.” Last year, the band was chosen as an official showcase performer for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass held in Nashville, Tenn.

Learn how you can live healthier at GreyStone’s health fair tent, which promotes member wellness at the Annual Meeting. Many booths will be set up with various screenings, handouts and information from 8 a.m. until noon. Flu shots will also be offered by WellStar Douglas for $25 each. Medicare may be filed.

Soldiers’ Angels will also be at the event, so members can donate needed items for troops and sign Christmas cards to be sent to soldiers overseas. Socks are especially needed. Colors needed include brown and black. The socks should be a wool blend for hygiene and safety. Athletic-style socks are needed and specialty sport, hiking or tactical socks are also greatly appreciated.

In an effort to help make Georgia safer for children and families, GreyStone will host a Georgia Child Identification Program (GACHIP) event at the Annual Meeting. GACHIP representatives will provide free ID packets for children ages 4 to 16. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

At 11 a.m., get the inside scoop on your cooperative at the official business meeting of members. Learn about GreyStone’s future goals and the cooperative’s successful past year. Directors without opposition (uncontested) from Districts 1, 4 and 8 will be elected by voice vote. No candidates were nominated through petition by members.

The event will conclude with exciting door-prize giveaways, and one lucky member will go home with the grand prize: a 2006 Chevy C1500 truck retired from the GreyStone fleet!
