Announcement by Kip Carr, Former Candidate, House District 62

Former HD 62 Candidate Kip Carr announces that he's remaining neutral in the August 21 Primary Runoff Election.

Today I'm announcing officially that I've decided to remain neutral in the race for House District 62. I've communicated with both of the runoff candidates this morning and told each of them that whoever is successful next Tuesday that we ask for them to hold community meetings throughout the district so that the citizens can give them our feedback directly. I wish both Marvin Arrington and LaDawn Blackett Jones the best.

I'm going to remain being a strong advocate for my neighborhood, and have already begun working on new challenges facing my community since the election two weeks ago. I know that unsuccessful candidates usually evaporate into thin air--but the challenges before us unfortunately does not give me the luxury to return to the sidelines.

Even though I wasn't successful in the July 31 Primary Election, I'm humbled by the overwhelming vote by both Republicans and Democrats concerning ethics reform and it appears now that meaningful change in this area will no doubt occur.

Yes, it was exceptional to have an open seat house race with four candidates that remained mostly positive. Even though there were those who even took to this site to criticize me for running and mocking my campaign motto  LOL, it never got personal like other races in Douglas County and for that I'm grateful.

So I'll be on Patch from time to time blogging about issues that concern me that need highlighting--but not as a candidate, and I'm genuinely interested to know what other people think. I don't expect anybody to agree with me all of the time--but respect and civility is not too much to ask.

Thanks so much.
