Atlanta Diaper Relief has Partnered with Loving Hands Ministry to Help Families Receive Free Diapers

Atlanta Diaper Relief is a non-profit that gives out free diapers to Douglasville families in need.

Can you imagine having to choose between feeding your child and changing her diaper? In the United States, one in three mothers have had to make that choice.

In  the United States, 1 in 3 mothers have had to cut back on food in order  to provide diapers for their children, according to a new study.

This is why I created a non-profit called Atlanta Diaper Relief. Atlanta Diaper Relief is a 501c3, non-profit organization dedicated to distributing diapers to
low-income families in need. We are a diaper bank and through our diaper drives we collect diapers and distribute them to Douglas, and Fulton County families in need with help from our partner agencies like Loving Hands Ministry on 6768 Spring Street, Douglasville.

In low to no-income families, a  baby can spend a day or longer in one diaper,
leading to potential health and abuse risks.

Low-income parents cannot take advantage of free or subsidized childcare if they cannot afford to leave disposable diapers at childcare centers. If parents cannot access daycare, then they are less able to attend work or school on a consistent basis. This in turn leads to increased economic instability and a continuation of the cycle of poverty.

We also ensure that families living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers; and raise community awareness that “basic human needs” include diapers and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty.

The fact is that mothers without enough diapers will attempt to reuse soiled diapers, extend the time the child is in a used diaper and other measures that    effect the quality of life of the child and the guilt and distress of the mother.

No mom wants to leave their baby in a soiled diaper.

We are always looking for community organizations to host diaper drives for us. Diaper drives are fun ways to ask your co-workers, church groups and friends to collect diapers for us.

If you are interested in hosting a diaper drive, please email director@atlantadiaperrelief.org.

If you are a family interested in receiving our diapers, please visit Loving Hands Ministry Mon-Fri 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and bring:

  • Proof of Income
  • Proof of residency
  • Copy of your child's Birth Certificate
  • Social Security card

As a community we can help give babies relief, starting from the bottom.
