'Sparkles' Throws Family Noon Year's Eve Skating Event

The Hiram skating rink will have a countdown and balloon drop will be held at 4 p.m.

Hiram's family-friendly skating rink, Sparkles, will be offering a family fun event on New Year's Eve from noon to 6 p.m.

"This event is always a big hit," Jessica Cranford said, the rink's sales manager. "A lot of families don't have things to do on New Year's Eve."

In its second year, this year-end party is quickly becoming a holiday favorite.

For a $9 admission, the rink offers 3D Laser Tag, 4 game tokens, a small soda, and hats and horns for the 'countdown' at 4 p.m., when there will be more than 600 balloons dropped. Some balloons will have prizes and money in them.

"We're proud to offer a clean, safe, family fun event that is great exercise," Cranford said. "There's really something for everyone and it's a great time!"

The rink is also open today everyday during the holiday school break, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
