“For an even more magical experience for children and kids at heart, show your Christmas spirit by entering a brightly lit, holiday-themed float in the parade,” said Whited.

The City of Douglasville will be the exclusive presenter of Santa and encourages float makers to incorporate other Christmas icons and holiday décor as a part of their entry.

RSVP Atlanta, a five-piece instrumental band, will perform live in concert on O’Neal Plaza at 7:15 p.m. Attendees can cozy up to a free cup of hot chocolate and Christmas music featuring RSVP Atlanta’s harmonizing sounds of the alto saxophone, piano, drums, keyboard, trumpet, and bass guitar. Festivities will conclude at 8:15 p.m. with the City of Douglasville’s official Christmas tree lighting ceremony and caroling by the Burnett Elementary School chorus.

“The annual lighting of the tree is a symbolic tradition to kick off the holidays for the city, and has proven to be a popular holiday activity for many residents and visitors,” said Assistant City Manager Marcia Hampton.

The city’s sparkling tree of lights that towers over O’Neal Plaza's fountain will illuminate the square throughout the holiday season.
