Shepherd of the Hills UMC Welcomes New Pastor

Rev. Lisa Dempsey had been pastor at Epworth UMC at Candler Park.

Shepherd of the Hills in the Chapel Hill community of Douglasville, welcomed Rev. Lisa Dempsey to the pulpit on June 22 as its pastor.

Rev. Dempsey comes to Shepherd of the Hills after serving Epworth UMC at Candler Park as pastor for 10 years in the Candler Park/Little Five Points community. While serving there, Rev. Dempsey and church leadership focused on meeting the needs of a diverse community, establishing a pre-school, launching an art program to serve children and adults, and mentoring Emory seminary students for ministry.  

Rev. Dempsey has also served United Methodist churches at Harmony Grove UMC in Lilburn and St. Timothy UMC in Stone Mountain. Pastor Dempsey holds a Master of Divinity from Emory, Candler School of Theology and a BSHE, Interior Design from University of Georgia.

Rev. Dempsey is married to Jack. They have two adult children, Melissa and Dr. Amanda Dempsey Ridgeway.
