Each month during the school year, a Douglas County student presents the Character Word of the Month during a regular meeting of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.

The March Character Word is “Creativity” and was presented by Mr. Luke Blasczyk, a student at Dorsett Shoals Elementary, during the Tuesday, March 18th, meeting.

Mr. Blasczyk used graphics from “Beautiful Oops!” by Barney Saltzberg to illustrate how to be creative and turn a mistake into something positive, stating “a mistake is an adventure in creativity, a portal of discovery.  A spill doesn’t ruin a drawing - not when it becomes the shape of a goofy animal. An accidental tear in your paper can be turned into the roaring mouth of an alligator.”
