Pumpkin Pie, Wilmina are Shelter Pets of Week

There are currently 46 cats and 71 dogs at the Shelter.

Each week, the Douglas County Animal Shelter highlights a cat and a dog as the “Pets of the Week.” All animals at the shelter are looking for loving and permanent homes, and it is hoped that the “Pets of the Week” highlight will help bring attention to all of the animals currently housed at the Douglas County Animal Shelter.

Pumpkin Pie #10099 is a beautiful female American Pit Bull Terrier that is sweet enough to be taken home and gobbled up like post-Thanksgiving dessert! She has a luscious white coat with a circle of black around one eye - very chic!

Wilmina #10130 is a lovely medium domestic shorthair orange and white tabby. Quite the coquettish cat, she is ready to entertain her new family with her coy style.

There are currently 46 cats and 71 dogs at the Shelter. Some of the animals have already been spayed or neutered. All adoptable animals are listed on www.petfinder.com

Cats available for adoption include domestic short hair, domestic medium hair and domestic long hair varieties. Most of the cats are very sweet, get along with other cats, and are litter box trained.

Dogs include pit bulls, pit bull mixes, Shepherd mixes, German Shepherds, Labrador Retriever mixes, Australian Shepherd mixes, Chihuahua mixes, Shih Tzu, Poodle mixes, Shar Pei mixes, Terrier mixes, Pug mixes and more. Many of the dogs know simple commands, are very loving, seem to get along well with other dogs and somewhat house-trained.

The Douglas County Animal Shelter is open Tuesday - Sunday afternoons, and is located at 1755 County Services Road (off Cedar Mountain Road) adjacent to the Cedar Mountain Landfill approximately 4.5 miles northwest of downtown Douglasville.
