Nimble Fingers Needed to Help Shelter Animals

The Douglas County Animal Shelter is looking for individuals or groups to perform a special service for our animals to make their time here more comfortable and less stressful.

The shelter is looking for individuals or groups to take recycled fabrics and turn them into kennel bedding. These can be made from any number of heavy duty fabrics, including old sweatshirts, fleece materials,  flannel sheets and pillowcases, shirts, jackets and nightgowns; blankets, thick towels and any quilted items, such as jackets, mattress pad covers, bedspreads, comforters or sleeping bags.

Stains or holes do not matter. Items need to be heavy duty to allow for frequent washing and occasional chewing

Catnip bags would be a special treat for our cats and kittens at the shelter.
