8th Annual Drake Davis Foundation Golf Tournament

Golf Tournament Raises Awareness for Teen Suicide Prevention

The 8th Annual Drake Davis Foundation Golf Tournament will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Chapel Hills Golf Course in Douglasville, GA.  Participation sign-up is now available for individuals, golf teams and corporate sponsors.  The proceeds of the tournament go to the Drake Davis Foundations outreach program to raise awareness of suicide prevention among teens.  Registration is available at www.drakedavis.com.

The mission of the Drake Davis Foundation (a §501(c)(3) organization (20-8198140)) is to raise awareness of suicide prevention and to assist people whose lives have been affected by suicide.  The Foundation was formed in loving memory of 17 year old Drake Davis, a center on his high school football team, who committed suicide on January 4, 2006.

"When suicide happens no one wants to talk about it.  Our mission is to encourage speaking up about suicide prevention and to reach out to those in need of assistance.  People need to be aware of the impact suicide has on our society.  We talk about drinking, using drugs, having sex, but we don't talk about suicide.  Nearly 1,000,000 people attempt suicide every year.  It is time to Speak Up and Reach Out," expressed Jerri Mann, Drake's mother and chairman of the Drake Davis Foundation.

Since 2006, the Drake Davis Foundation has awarded over 50 college scholarships to qualifying high school seniors.  The proceeds of the tournament help fund the scholarship program.  Visit the www.drakedavis.com to register for the golf tournament or to find out more about becoming a corporate sponsor.  Donations may be sent to Drake Davis Foundation 735 Brookwoods Trace, Atlanta, GA 30342.
