How to Vote Early for May 20 Elections in Douglas County

Early voting runs through May 16; you do not need a reason to vote in advance.

Douglas County Elections and Voter Registration announces its registration and voting dates for the May 20th Primaries and Election:

  • Monday, April 21st: Voter Registration Deadline for Primary Election
  • Monday, April 28th - Friday, May 16th: Advance Voting, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Voter Registration Office, first floor, Douglas County Courthouse
  • Saturday, May 10th: Saturday Advance Voting, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Voter Registration Office, first floor, Douglas County Courthouse
  • Monday, May 12th - Friday, May 16th: Advance Voting, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., at four additional locations in the County:
    • Boundary Waters Aquatic Center, 5000 Georgia Highway 92/166
    • Deer Lick Park Gymnasium, 2105 Mack Road
    • Dog River Library, 6100 Georgia Highway 5
    • Old Douglas County Courthouse, first floor, 6754 Church Street.
  • Tuesday, May 20th: Party Primaries and Nonpartisan Election, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., at all precinct locations
  • Tuesday, July 22nd: Primary Run-off (if necessary), 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., at all precinct locations.

Registered voters may advance vote without giving a reason.

Absentee ballots are now available. Applications are available through a link on the Elections and Voter Registration page of the Douglas County web site at www.CelebrateDouglasCounty.com (look under Important Links).

Sample ballots for the May 20th Party Primaries and Nonpartisan Election are viewable/downloadable from the Elections and Voter Registration page of the Douglas County web site (look under Downloadable Documents). The sample ballots are for the County as a whole. The Democratic and Republican Party Primaries will nominate candidates for Federal, State and local offices, including US Senator, Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Department and Agency Commissioners, State School Superintendent, US Congressman, State Senators, State Representatives, 3 County Commissioners, 3 School Board Members, District Attorney, Magistrate Judge and Solicitor-General. The Nonpartisan Election will elect persons to the State Supreme Court, State Court of Appeals, Douglas County Superior Court and Douglas County State Court. Voters must select which Party Primary in which to vote. The Nonpartisan Election is attached to each Party Primary.

Persons already registered to vote need not register again unless the voter has had a name or address change. The Douglas County Voter Registration Office is located on the first floor of the Douglas County Courthouse at 8700 Hospital Drive, and is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. excluding holidays
