Suspect in Metro Atlanta Robberies May Be Linked to Douglas Incident

That was revealed during a meeting of law enforcement from Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Henry and Rockdale counties.

Last month, investigators in DeKalb and Rockdale counties said they believed the man wanted in connection with a June 18 armed robbery at a Vinings QuikTrip may be responsible for robberies in their jurisdictions, too.

Authorities in Douglas County have announced that the same man may be behind a robbery here, according to WSB-TV. That was revealed during a recent meeting of law enforcement officials from Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Henry and Rockdale counties.

The details of the Douglas robbery have not been released, and Douglas County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Traci Sullivan could not be reached for comment this morning.

Investigators from other jurisdictions began to suspect a link between the robberies hours after Cobb police released surveillance images from the June 18 robbery at the QuikTrip at 2804 Paces Ferry Rd.

In that case, a man wearing a dark shirt, a skull cap and light-colored pants purchased a small item from the QuikTrip clerk just before 1 a.m., said Sgt. Dana Pierce with the Cobb County Police Department.

"As the female clerk was making change, the male offender produced a handgun and demanded that he be given money from the cash registers," he said.

After getting the money, the man left the gas station in an unknown direction.

Forty-five minutes before that, authorities said the same man robbed a Chamblee BP gas station at 5018 Peachtree Blvd. The suspect is also accused of robbing a Rockdale County BP gas station at 2992 Hwy. 155 about 10:25 p.m. June 16.

"Anyone with information regarding the individual (who) investigators from all three jurisdictions feel is responsible for the armed robberies in Chamblee, Rockdale or Cobb is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency by dialing 9-1-1," Pierce said.
