Snelling and Jones Win Runoffs Tuesday

Bob Snelling beat out Mike Miller in House District 66, while LaDawn Blackett Jones won over Marvin Arrington Jr. in District 62.

The favorites in the primary didn't all win the runoffs Tuesday in Georgia House Districts 66 and 62.

One winner will go on to the general election, while the other won her seat outright.

In House District 66, retired pilot Bob Snelling, who received 49.63 percent of the vote in July and 82.14 percent Tuesday, beat attorney Mike Miller. Snelling will face Democrat Kim Alexander in the general election on Nov. 6, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

District 66 consists of northern and southern Paulding County.

In House District 62, Marvin Arrington Jr., the son of Atlanta political legend Marvin Arrington Sr., came in with 47.66 percent of the vote in July but lost Tuesday night to attorney LaDawn Blackett Jones, who won 61.82 percent of the vote.

Bleckett-Jones wins her seat, as there is no Republican in the race.

HD 62 was drawn into Douglas County following the 2010 census and consists of parts of eastern Douglas County and southern Fulton County.
