Adorned with decorated streets and glowing parade floats, the City of Douglasville's Magic on Main Street Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will kick off with a parade starting at 6:30 p.m. on Church Street.

The Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Doulgas Class of 2013 will be fundraising by selling hot cocoa for $1 during the City of Douglasville's Magic on Main Street Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting on Friday.

Adorned with decorated streets and glowing parade floats, the event will kick off with a parade starting at 6:30 p.m. on Church Street.

Sale of Cocoa will be on O'Neal Plaza, from 6 to 9 p.m., and proceeds will go to benefit Douglas County's new CarePlace facility, scheduled to open in 2013.

Following the procession, the magic of Christmas will continue on O'Neal Plaza at 7:15 p.m. with caroling and sweet treats, with local Boy Scouts selling donuts. In addition, children can visit and take a photo with Santa beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will conclude at 8:15 p.m. with the lighting of the tree on O’Neal Plaza.

The parade takes place at night, and offers float-makers the opportunity to incorporate lighting in their designs for an even more magical experience for children and kids at heart. Santa Claus will greet spectators with a wave and a smile as he leads the parade. The City of Douglasville will be the exclusive presenter of Santa.
