Police, Court Buildings Open

Free guided tours will be available to view the new municipal buildings on Fairburn Road. This is among the five things necessary to know before you leave the house today, Feb. 22.

  1. New Digs for Police and Court. Wednesday is the big day for the Douglasville Police Department and the Municipal Court. Both will be officially moved into their new buildings on Fairburn Road and ready for business.
  2. Guided Tours of the New Douglasville Police Department and Municipal Court Building will be held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m.Β  Admission is free. The buildings are located on Fairburn Road, one mile east of Interstate 20. For more information, call 770-920-3021.
  3. Chili Cookoff. is having a chili cook off and raffle on March 5. The grand prize for the raffle is two tickets in Business Class, anywhere AirTran flys. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. The drawing will be held at the chili cook off but you do not need to be present to win. Several other prizes are also available, ranging from gift cards at local shops to restaurants. For more information, contact Jim Morton, here.
  4. Deer Lick Park Golden Years Senior Club's Black History Celebration will be held on Wednesday, beginning atΒ  11 a.m. in the Deer Lick Park Activity Center/Gym. Special music provided by the Elizabeth Baptist Church Sr. Choir, Atlanta. The Keynote Address will be delivered by former Atlanta Braves All-Star and Douglas County native Terry Harper.   5. Junior League's Ritzy Rummage SaleΒ  will be held Saturday, from
    8 a.m. to noon, at Hunter Park Community Center. Admission is free. All proceeds benefit the Junior League's services to women, children and seniors.
