New Charges Against Former Douglas Resident Accused of Impregnating Stepdaughter

The suspect is in the Douglas County Jail on a charge of incest.

A 44-year-old man in the Douglas County Jail on a charge of incest faces new charges in Cobb County.

Charges were filed Friday against Richard Andrew Cosden of Mableton, who now faces one count of aggravated child molestation and one count of incest in that jurisdiction.

In an arrest warrant, Cobb authorities accuse Cosden of having a sexual relationship with his stepdaughter from the ages of 11 to 17. The family lived in Cobb from 2006 to May 2011, moved to Douglas for a little more than one year and returned to Cobb in January.

While the family was living in Douglas, Cosden impregnated his stepdaughter, police said. After the child's birth, the family returned to Cobb, where the sexual relationship continued, according to the warrant. It ended when "the accused was arrested in Douglas County after admitting to the sexual relationship in that jurisdiction," police said in the Cobb warrant.

In April, a Douglas County judge denied bond for Cosden, who admitted to having sex with his stepdaughter at least a dozen times, Assistant District Attorney Anna Vaughn told the Douglas County Sentinel.
