BFAM, Inc. and YAV, are hosting a Winter Clothing Drive where everyone can donate both new and used winter clothing, etc. as well as enjoy food, music, and fun in a safe community environment on Saturday, from 2 to 7 p.m.
The Community Building is located at 2083 Fairburn Rd., next door to the Douglasville Police Station. It will be a day for our youth and community to gather in a positive and meaningful way; donating winter clothing items to give to the needy and homeless this holiday season. Participants will enjoy free food and music in the spirit of giving and community.
On Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 Bobby Tillman, a Georgia teenager was randomly beaten to death by teens outside of a local house party. Bobby was brutally murdered, but inadvertently started a nationwide movement.
At 18, Bobby had a bright future ahead of him with a focus on giving back, working hard and making a difference. Today, his mother carries a banner and message of love through volunteer work, rallies and speaking engagements across the state of Georgia and beyond.
This Winter Clothing Drive will serve as a central location for youth and community members to donate new and used winter clothing items, shoes, blankets, toiletries, etc. All donated items will be distributed to the local shelters in Douglas County, the homeless, the Covenant House in Atlanta and beyond.
