Sweet Bears Are Rare

Bear is about forty pounds of joy and he is ready to begin his life as a companion for someone lucky enough to recognize his good traits and adopt him.

Bear #3113

Come meet a very sweet bear this week at DCAC. Bear is a mix breed labrador retriever who has been neutered. Bear is about a year old and a sweet little dog that loves people. He has a beautiful charcoal and brown speckled coat and he loves attention. Bear came to the shelter on June 20 as an owner surrender and all he will need upon adoption is his Rabies vaccination and a loving home. Bear is about forty pounds of joy and he is ready to begin his life as a companion for someone lucky enough to recognize his good traits and adopt him. Come see Bear this week and see if he won't make the perfect dog for you and your family.

If you’re interested in adopting Bear, or any of the many other beautiful and sweet dogs or cats that are available for adoption, please visit the Douglas County Animal Shelter located at 1755 County Services Road (off Cedar Mountain Road). The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed to the public on Monday, but open to rescue organizations on Mondays. The summer months are the critical months to adopt and rescue, so please consider giving one of these dogs or cats a loving and forever home.

Pet listings on these pages are updated daily, however, some animals featured may be adopted prior to your arrival and that after all is the goal. If the pet you are interested in has been adopted, please consider giving another of the many loveable pets an opportunity to be your forever friend and allow them to show you just how special they each are when they are given a chance.

Adoption fees for dogs and cats at DCAC is $25 and there is a $10 micro chip fee. $35 for the opportunity to make a friend for life and the opportunity to give a fur kid a forever home is a small price to pay. All dogs presently receive intake inoculations for kennel cough, parvo and distemper (cats receive distemper as part of a five way vaccination). All pets adopted from the shelter are required to have their rabies shots and be spayed or neutered within thirty days of adoption, unless they are kittens or puppies and they are given extended times. The Douglas County Animal Shelter phone: 770-942-5961. If the line is busy, please keep trying as there is often limited staff to answer calls. However, messages left will be returned as time permits.
