This is the list of dogs that were placed on the IN DANGER LIST today by DCAC. These dogs may be put down this Friday the 24th if they are not adopted or rescued by 7 PM on Thursday the 23rd. Destiny 5472 is a sweet older girl the stress of the shelter is too much for her and she is losing weight she needs out

Callie 4866 is a sweet girl and gets along with other dogs, she has been at the shelter for months

Bosco 5408 is a big goofy boy and the shelter life makes him sad, he needs out to be happy again

Roger 5434 is a sweet boy and great with other dogs he has grown up at the shelter and needs a home

Sassy 4964 was adopted after months at the shelter but returned because she did not want to be an outside dog

Walker 5512 is an old guy and has to be in a single kennel, he doesn’t have much patience for the younger crowd

Hunter 5511 is an old guy and really does not like being here at the shelter. He is a sweet boy and deserves a home.

Nas 4614 is a hyper kid that is growing up here and this is nowhere to grow up. Nas is a sweet boy he just needs some training

Rusty 5095 is a spayed female, she can be with other dogs but loses patience easy with her pen mates so she is housed alone. Sweet loving girl.

Jasmine 5068 has been at the shelter for too long, she is good with other dogs but gets passed up all the time

Roger 5010 is still hanging in there, even though he has made it to the courtyard he still needs a more stress free environment to aloe his demodex to heal and let his inner dude shine through

Daisy 5178 is a sweet but very hyper girl, needs training and love

Midnight 5150 is a wonderful boy and would make a excellent family dog, he has the curse of the black dog and always gets overlooked.

Love 5591 is a small female Pitbull, great with other dogs but is snappy when approached sometimes, it is a cry for attention but does not enhance adoption in a crowded shelter. Love has scars from some type of trauma, she would make a great dog for an experienced pet owner.

Harlen 5630 is a black pit mix, sweet and good with other dogs but shows signs of cage aggression when you walk up to the cage. This behavior is not good in a shelter environment and scares off potential adopters.

Brody 5431 is roomies with Harlen and they get along good but both show signs of cage aggression when you walk up to cage and therefore don’t have a high potential for adoption. Brody is a sweet boy, tan Pit mix.

Shasta 5766 is new to the shelter but has some issues with being touched around her neck and head and will snap at your hand if approached in that area. Finder said she was gentle other than the head issue, this could be a result of abuse or being chained. Shasta would need an experienced dog owner to work with her insecurities.

If you are interested in adopting any of these dogs, or any of the many other beautiful and sweet dogs or cats that are available for adoption, please take the time to visit the Douglas County Animal Shelter located at 1755 County Services Road (off Cedar Mountain Road) this week. The summer months are the critical months to adopt and rescue dogs and cats, so please consider giving one of these dogs or cats a loving and forever home.

To learn about other animals available for adoption at Douglas County Animal Control, view the DCAC PetFinder listings on their website.

Or please visit the DC shelter pets posted and profiled daily at Rainbow Connections on Facebook and at our sister page Furbabies of DCAS on facebook.

Pet listings on each of these pages are updated daily; therefore, some animals featured may be adopted prior to your arrival at the shelter. That after all is the goal. If the pet you have seen promoted and are interested in has been adopted, please consider giving another of the many loveable pets an opportunity to be your forever friend. Come see them and allow them to show you just how special they each are once they are given a chance to be adopted.

Adoption fees for dogs and cats at DCAC is $25 and there is a $10 micro chip fee. $35 for the opportunity to make a friend for life and the opportunity to give a fur kid a forever home is a small price to pay.Β

All dogs presently receive intake inoculations for kennel cough, parvo and distemper (cats receive distemper as part of a five way vaccination). All pets adopted from the shelter are required to have their rabies shots and be spayed or neutered within thirty days of adoption, unless they are kittens or puppies and they are given extended time. The Douglas County Animal Shelter phone: 770-942-5961. If the line is busy, please keep trying as there is often limited staff to answer calls. However, messages left will be returned as time permits.
