Come To The Shelter & Bring a Toy

The animal shelter is currently participating with the US Marine Corps Reserves Toys For Tots campaign.

Come by the shelter and see all the wonderful animals available for adoption this week before the holiday. There are a number of sweet and loving dogs and cats, each of which is looking to find a forever home.

The animal shelter is currently participating with the US Marine Corps Reserves Toys For Tots campaign. Bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to a child in our community and come see the many wonderful animals who are waitng for a home. Anyone donating a toy valued at $10 or more to Toys For Tots, will be able to adopt any shelter animal for 1/2 off the normal adoption fee, or $17.00

Also, every weekend this month is "Coats & Tails" for cats. A special promotion for black cats and tuxedo cats. Anyone adopting a black cat or a tuxedo cat can adopt those cats for $12 or two for $20. These are some of the most beautiful and intelligent cats that are available. Come see them today and take one (or two) home today.

Volunteers will be present to help you and to answer questions about specific animals that you may be interested in adopting. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than by donating to a good cause and visiting with those who need your help.

Douglas County Animal Shelter is located at 1755 County Services Road (off Cedar Mountain Road).

Douglas County Animal Control maintains PetFinder listings on their website.

Or you can visit the Douglas County shelter pets posted and profiled daily on volunteer pages at: Rainbow Connections on Facebook  Or our sister page at: Furbabies of DCAS on Facebook.

Pet listings on each of these pages are updated daily; therefore, some animals featured may be adopted prior to your visiting the shelter. Finding forever homes for these pets is the goal, so please consider giving another loving pet a home if the one you first saw has already been adopted. Come see these sweet dogs and cats and allow them to show you just how special they each can be once they are given a chance to be loved and have a home.

Adoption fees for dogs and cats at the shelter are $25 and there is a $10 micro chip fee. That mean for $35 you have the opportunity to make a friend for life and the opportunity to give a homeless fur kid a forever home.

During November and December, DCAC is supporting Toys For Tots! Bring a toy valued at $10 or more and receive a 1/2 off adoption or bring any new unwrapped toy to donate. There are also weekly specials each month and many of the Dogs and Cats available for adoption have been sponsored for spay/neuter and vaccinations.   So don't miss the opportunity to adopt your new best friend during the holidays.

All dogs presently receive intake inoculations for kennel cough, parvo and distemper (cats receive distemper as part of a five way vaccination). All pets adopted from the shelter are required to have their rabies shots and be spayed or neutered within thirty days of adoption, unless they are kittens or puppies, Kittens and puppies are given extended time. The Douglas County Animal Shelter phone: 770-942-5961. If the line is busy, please keep trying as there is often limited staff to answer calls. However, messages left will be returned as time permits.
