New Pulmonary Care Unit Opens

The new Transitions Pulmonary Care Unit, located on the same campus as Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC, a skilled nursing facility, is a free standing sub-acute ventilator unit that also has the distinction of being the first free-standing ventilator unit within 50 miles of Atlanta.

This new facility, and its accompanying program, is designed to help patients achieve and maintain their highest functional levels, reach clinical stability and experience a higher quality of life. To achieve these results, the Transitions Unit has devoted staff that are specifically pulmonary and ventilator trained. This interdisciplinary team oversees and manages each individual patient’s stay on the unit, as well as educates the patient and family.

Services offered at the new facility include: Full physician collaboration, 24 hour on-site respiratory services, ventilator and tracheostomy weaning, airway management and stabilization, therapy, diagnostics, as well as patient and family support.

Participating in the ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 3 were: Sara Ray, Director of Community Affairs, Douglasville Chamber of Commerce; Chuck Brown, Vice President; and Keith Wilson, Executive Director, Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
