Chamber Leadership Scholarship Winners Announced

The Douglas County Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of the annual Chamber Leadership Scholarships at the GreyStone Power Luncheon today.

The announced the recipients of the annual Chamber Leadership Scholarships at the Power Luncheon today.
The Chamber Foundation coordinates community education and leadership programs such as Leadership Douglas, Youth Leadership Douglas and our Annual Chamber Leadership Scholarship.

The scholarship was funded this year by the DC Chamber’s Young Professionals Connection.  Each year, scholarships are awarded to high-achieving, local high school students who excel academically and have demonstrated leadership in their school and community.

This year the quality of applicants was truly inspiring and highly competitive with more than 30 applicants for only three scholarships.

The first recipient of a $500 Chamber Foundation Leadership Scholarships is Kelsey Dobbs from . Kelsey has a 4.12 GPA and is a Youth Leadership Douglas graduate. She served as Founder of the Spanish Club, and Founder of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes where she resides as President of both clubs. She is also captain of the Varsity and Junior Olympic Volleyball team, and volunteers at the Pregnancy Resource Center, Boys and Girls Club, and Samaritan’s Purse.  She will attend Auburn University in the fall and major in Pre-Pharmacy.  

The second recipient of a $500 Chamber Foundation Leadership Scholarships is Morgan Holtzclaw from . Morgan has a 4.0 GPA and is the President of the National Honor Society at Alexander. She is a Cheerleader, Superintendents Scholar and was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her peers. Morgan will attend the University of Alabama in the fall and major in Health Administration.  

The final recipient of a $500 Chamber Foundation Leadership Scholarships is Erick Rodriguez from Lithia Springs High School. Erick has a 3.96 GPA and is an avid athlete playing Varsity Soccer, Football and Cross Country. He is also a member of Beta Club, DECA, National Honor Society and was the 2010 Homecoming King. Erick will attend Southern Polytechnic State University in the fall and major in Mechanical Engineering.
