Be an 'Angel' for a Needy Child

The Douglas County Chamber Diplomats are seeking “angels” to help needy children and families this holiday season during the Diplomat Angel Tree Project. The Chamber Diplomats serve as business ambassadors in the community on behalf of the Chamber and have taken the Angel Tree Project “under their wing” for another year. The Angel Tree is located in the Chamber lobby located at 6658 Church Street in Downtown Douglasville.

The Diplomat Angel Tree Project began in 2011, and in the first year, provided for 125 children and their families in Douglas County. This year the program has expanded from assisting two local organizations to assisting three, making the need for community support even greater. Angel Tree donations will benefit the SHARE House, Douglas County Boys & Girls Club and Youth Villages.

“There are so many of us who are fortunate enough to be able to provide for our friends and family during the holidays each year. The Angel Tree Project is an easy, inexpensive way to give to those who do not have the luxury of giving.  The Diplomats are very passionate about the Angel Tree Project and appreciate any support from local businesses and citizens,” commented Chamber Diplomat and Angel Tree Chair, Elisha Wilson with Comcast Spotlight.

There are many ways to become an “angel” this holiday season. Stop by the Chamber Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to select the child or family you would like to provide for this season. Items on the tree range from clothing and toys to household staples such as toothpaste, combs and shampoo. Simply sign up, shop for your angel, and return the unwrapped gifts to the Chamber by December 18. The Diplomats are also collecting new socks and coats that can be donated at any Chamber networking event or at the Chamber. Monetary donations can also be made in lieu of gifts.
