Local Salon Featured on 'Tabatha's Take Over' Tonight

Pat Duke's Douglasville salon, Pat's Hair Shoppe, will be featured on the Bravo program at 10 p.m. Take our Patch Poll: will you be watching?

Pat Duke’s Douglasville salon, , will be featured tonight at 10 p.m. on Bravo's "Tabatha Takes Over." Tabatha Coffey, the straight-talking host of the show, has taken stuggling salons from across the county and tried to turn them around for the past four years.

Duke opened her old school, southern beauty shop more than 24 years ago, but after she expanded and doubled her staff to bulk up her business, her veteran stylists walked out, leaving her emotionally and financially devastated, according to a press release by Bravo.

Tabatha discovers during tonight's episode that Pat hasn’t recovered from the betrayal and is not communicating with her remaining staff at all, the release states. And to make matters worse, the entire team has lost sight of how to be professional.

After seeing this episode of Tabatha's take over, I decided to give Pat's Hair Salon a try. I needed a good hair stylist in Douglasville and I was hoping this would be the place for me. I was SO wrong. First of all, when I called to get prices and to make an appointment, the person that answered the phone was completely unprofessional and rude. She acted like she didn't want to be bothered with answering the phone. Then when I asked for prices she told me that 2 of their hair stylists (John & Michale) had a special for $85 for cut and color. I thought that was a great price and assumed that both were just lowering their prices to get more customers but that they would not be recommended to customers if they couldn't do a good job. Since I had no idea about either of them, I just made my appointment with John. When I arrived at the salon, I immediately didn't feel welcome. No one really spoke to me or even stopped what they were doing. Finally someone did ask me who my appointment was with but then said no more to me. I didn't have to wait long to be seen by John, however, after he asked me what I wanted done with my hair, he left me sitting in his salon chair for over 15 minutes while he did who knows what. During that timeframe, no one bothered to speak to me or to try to find out what he was doing. He then did a horrible job with my color. It was left brassy and dried out and the cut was awful too. I would not recommend this salon to anyone.

Continuation of above comments. John continually left me sitting alone in his salon chair while he disappeared into the back of the salon. He used no fewer than 20 products on my hair while I was there and when I left, I felt like I had a helmet on my hair. The first thing I had to do when I got home was to wash all of the gook out of my hair. Then I went to Great Clips and paid 9.00 for a much better hair cut to clean up the mess he had left me with. The color has continued to get brassier and brassier as the days go by so I have an appointment scheduled with another salon in Douglasville to fix the color. All in all...I wasted $100 on a crappy hair cut and color, I spent 3 hours sitting in John's salon chair feeling uncomfortable because everyone ignored me, and I now have to spend more time and money to have it all repaired. Not only was John awful, but the other staff members (including Pat) spent the whole time gossiping and talking about people that live in the Douglasville. I don't consider this to be Southern charm at all...I consider the way they acted as very rude and I will NEVER go back to Pat's Hair Salon.
