Soldiers' Angels Group Needs Socks, Cards for Troops

GreyStone is requesting donations for soldiers at the co-op's Annual Meeting.

With our troops still fighting overseas, GreyStone Power gives thanks by supporting the Soldiers' Angels. The organization will be on site at GreyStone’s Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. collecting needed items for its “Wrapped in Holiday Spirit” care packages. “Each year the cooperative invites Soldiers’ Angels to the Annual Meeting, encouraging members to join in our effort of giving back to troops serving our country,” said GreyStone President/CEO Gary Miller.

Troops are especially in need of socks to face winter in the mountains of Afghanistan. Colors needed include brown and black. The socks should be a wool blend for hygiene and safety. Athletic-style socks are needed and specialty sport, hiking or tactical socks are also greatly appreciated.

Also needed are signed Christmas cards, particularly those made by children. Cards will be available for signing at the Annual Meeting as well. A small selection of Soldiers' Angels merchandise (t-shirts, pins, magnets, etc.) will be for sale.

Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-based non-profit organization supporting American service representatives and their families. Through their mission to provide aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States military, Soldiers’ Angels has grown to be one of the most recognizable services supporting American soldiers abroad. Inspired by a mother’s dedication to make sure that “no soldier goes unloved,” Soldiers’ Angels took flight in 2003 and within months of its inception the program had grown into a community of 200,000 supporting angels worldwide. Today, the organization provides assistance to tens of thousands of American soldiers overseas.
