WGTC Presents 'The School for Scandal'
The West Georgia Technical College Theatre Troupe will present their annual production "The School for Scandal" January 17 and 18 at the Joshua R. Mabry Center for the Arts at Carrollton High School.
“It’s an exciting part of our college experience to see the creativity and artistic pursuits of the students,” said WGTC Interim President Pat Hannon. “A great deal of time and dedication goes into putting on a production such as this. I commend everyone who participates.”
The West Georgia Technical College Theatre Troupe is a student organization providing creative avenues for students interested in the performing arts, working either backstage or on stage. The Theatre Troupe is open to full and part time West Georgia Technical College students and provides family-friendly entertainment for both the College community and all of its service areas, with plans for eventual participation in various competitions both statewide and nationally.

“We are expecting this to be a great performance,” said Cheryl Johnson-Herring, adjunct instructor and theatre director. “I truly believe this is just the beginning of many productions here at West Georgia Technical College and a great partnership with Carrollton High School. It is my hope that our troupe will be mounting and performing many more quality productions here in the future.”
The West Georgia Technical College Theatre Troupe has been performing since the fall of 2012. The production of “The School for Scandal” casts 11 students in a period piece and a comedy of manners.

The show will start at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18. Tickets will be sold at the box office beginning an hour before show time. Ticket prices will be $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Concessions will be sold during intermission.
West Georgia Technical College, with campuses in Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Haralson and Troup counties, class sites in Heard and Meriwether counties, and a virtual learning campus, offers more than 115 associate degree, diploma and technical certificate programs of study. A unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, West Georgia Tech is the third largest of the state’s 24 technical colleges.
